Color Infusion

When I joked in my last post about an English Setter dog matching the colors of our home perfectly, it occurred to me that I really wasn’t kidding. There’s not much color happening around here other than black, white, brown, and beige. I’m not sure if I actually will or not, but I’d love to make over my office and inject a little bold color into it. Here’s what I’d do:

1. Dash and Albert Canyon Kilim Wool Woven Rug $598 for 5’ x 8’. This would be the biggest splurge of this office makeover, but it would absolutely make the room. There’s a bit of mint green in it, which the wall color would pick up on, and tie it together nicely.
2. Prescott Green by Benjamin Moore. From their Historic Colors Collection.

3. Ikea FJÄLKINGE bookshelf. $130. I would use two of these together, and maybe even spray paint them with Rustoleum in gold or antique brass.
4. Target Threshold™ Wood and Brass Round Accent Table with Shelf $56.24. If it looks anything in person like it does in this photo, I’d consider this little side table a small triumph.
5. I already own this Ikea LINNMON/ ODDVALD desk in black. $65.99. Dress it up with a nice desk lamp and some accessories, and you’d never know it cost less than dinner and a movie.
6. I’ve been admiring the West Elm Parson’s Console for quite some time. It’s on sale right now for $279. I’d use it behind the desk to put my printer on and might add two skinny lamps for extra lighting. I’d hang a big piece of art above it.
7. What a great little wishbone style chair from World Market. $139.99. I might put a faux sheepskin on it to make it more comfortable.
8. These out-of-focus paintings by South African artist Philip Barlow are gorgeous and peaceful. I’d love to look at one of his paintings while I work, but I’d happily settle for a large print in a crisp white frame.
9. Target Cooper Upholstered Arm Chairs in Camel Leather. Just like the wood and brass table, I’d have to see these guys in person before buying, but from the photos, I think for $249 each they’d make a really nice seating area. I’d put the table in between them and maybe throw in a fun Moroccan pouf as an ottoman.
10. If I don’t complete any of steps 1-9 I promise I will at least buy this Restoration Hardware 20th Century Torpedo Task Light in Antique Brass. It’s too good not to own. It was on sale last week for $130 and I can't believe I didn't buy it. Rookie move, Christine.

What do you think? Should I go for it?
